I wrote these words a couple of winter

Overwhelmed in the little years?

It’s 6am. Someone is already calling your name. A breakfast order has been placed, iPad time has been requested, and your eyes are not even open. Then you’re putting concealer under your eyes while little hands try to stuff a towel into the toilet, digging a shirt out of your closet without looking too closely at how many stains are on it, and just about to buckle everyone into the car when all tarnation breaks loose because someone’s socks are the wrong color. A diaper loses a fight with a blowout. Snack decisions are changed seven times. Suddenly, a nap window is about to be missed, your stomach is reminding you that coffee is not breakfast, you’re late for the first plans with friends that you’ve made in a month, and oh, the pile of laundry you just noticed again seems like it might just swallow you whole.

Overwhelmed? Well, yeah.

These early years of motherhood are no joke. Decision fatigue, loneliness, self-doubt, and brand-new challenges that we’ve never even heard of can be really overwhelming, whether we stay home with our babes full-time or spend some of our hours at a job. But what if I told you: the trenches where we feel like we’re sinking can actually be an invitation to joy?
